Methylcobalamin co-enzymatic B12
Methylcobalamin is a form of B12 that, unlike cyanocobalamin, is absorbed very efficiently. Although many manufacturers offer it in the form of lozenges (so that the B12 can already be absorbed through the blood vessels in the oral mucosa), methylcobalamin is absorbed so well that sucking is not absolutely necessary. Unlike cyanocobalamin, the absorption of methylcobalamin is not dependent on the so-called 'intrinsic factor'.
B12 is recommended, among others, for the elderly and vegans. B12 contributes to a normal metabolism of homocysteine, normal functioning of the nervous system, the normal formation of red blood cells, normal functioning of the immune system, and the reduction of (some forms of) fatigue.
