Resveratrol is a naturally occurring compound found in red grapes, blueberries, and some other plants. It acts as a natural defence substance, also known as an antioxidant*, which protects against external influences. Resveratrol exists in two forms: namely in cis- and trans- forms. Research indicates that only trans-resveratrol is absorbed by the body. Trans-resveratrol can be converted into the ineffective cis-transresveratrol under the influence of UV light. Therefore, resveratrol is stored in a dark glass jar that protects the products from ultraviolet light. *Resveratrol protects healthy cells and tissues (antioxidant).
