Spirulina

Spirulina is a small, spiral-shaped algae. This algae predominantly grows in mineral-rich saltwater lakes in Mexico, Central Africa, and East Africa. Like the freshwater algae chlorella, spirulina is classified among the so-called greens.

Spirulina is popular as a supplement because it is a highly nutritious algae. Spirulina naturally contains various nutrients such as:

• Proteins 

• Essential amino acids

• Vitamin E

• Vitamin K2

• Omega 6 fatty acid GLA

• Vitamin B1, B2, B3, and B6

• Vitamin B12

There is no recommended daily amount for spirulina. If you wish to use spirulina, it is advised to gradually build up the dose. On average, a daily dosage of about 1 to 3 grams is used. When purchasing, pay attention to the quality of the product, such as purity and packaging. It is important that the spirulina is checked for contamination and that the packaging allows as little light, oxygen, and moisture as possible.
