Good value for money
Good product. It is, however, quite large to swallow.
Nothing to complain about, a pleasant tablet to swallow. As far as I can tell from the ingredients and their quantities compared to other multivitamins and various other shops, I am satisfied with this multivitamin.
perfect for your daily vitamin needs easy
I am very satisfied with this and on the advice of a naturopath
Every Day Tablets have been the most popular variant in the Every Day series for years. This is a one-a-day multi in tablet form, suitable for adults aged 18 and over. It is a carefully designed multi with essential micronutrients and special additions. In the composition, as many absorbable substances and compound forms as possible have been chosen, in the right proportions and with the most optimal dosages. Choices have, of course, been made, as there is only a limited amount that fits into a tablet. Every Day will stand the test against other multis with flying colours and is the first choice of many therapists for a reason.
What's new?
The composition has been revised, based on the latest scientific insights, tailored to current data regarding the nutritional status in the Netherlands and the optimal intake quantities per nutrient. The dosage of some nutrients has been lowered. This applies, for example, to the various B vitamins. In a multi suitable for long-term use as a supplement to the diet, it is often unnecessary to dose these too high. And for some nutrients, the substantiation of the necessity as daily basic supplementation was lacking, so they have been omitted from the formula. This concerns inositol, PABA, and chromium. By lowering the B vitamins, omitting the three mentioned nutrients, and using other compound forms here and there, space was created in the tablet and in the price to increase the dosage of other important nutrients. For example, more is known about the desired intakes of choline, which has been increased from 25 mg to 85 mg per tablet. Additionally, the dosage of vitamin C has been increased from 100 mg to 160 mg, the dosage of magnesium has tripled from 30 mg to 100 mg, and the dosage of calcium has increased from 30 mg to 150 mg, making it five times higher! These are nutrients that take up relatively much space, but of which it is really important to get enough daily. Moreover, the formula has been made more complete with meso-zeaxanthin as a supplement to lutein and zeaxanthin. Finally, vitamin K1 has been added, and the quantities of vitamins K2, D3, and Q10 have been increased.
For whom
Every Day is specifically designed for adults. Vitals has developed separate multis for children, the elderly, and for women who are pregnant or wish to become pregnant. See also Every Day Junior, Every Day 50+ and Every Day Mama. Young people and (young) adults can choose Every Day Basic (1 per day) or Every Day Capsules (young people 1 capsule per day and adults 2 capsules per day). Additionally, there is Every Day Powder for those who prefer not to swallow a capsule or tablet, or prefer to mix the multi with something else. Adults and the elderly who want the best of the best choose Every Day Platinum (two tablets per day).
B vitamins in optimal forms and dosages
The Every Day multis contain generous but responsible amounts of B vitamins. Careful consideration has been given to daily needs and what the average intakes and lower limits are. Consideration has also been given to the body's ability to convert the different B vitamins, the latest scientific insights, and the safe upper limits.
All formulas also contain the biologically active forms of vitamin B2 (riboflavin-5'-phosphate), B6 (pyridoxal-5'-phosphate), B12 (methyl- and adenosylcobalamin), and folic acid (5-methyltetrahydrofolate glucosamine salt). These are the forms used by the body, and research shows that they have higher bioavailability in the body.
Vitamin B6 as pyridoxal-5'-phosphate
Very high doses of vitamin B6 can, in rare cases, lead to tingling or numbness in the hands or feet. Therefore, in the Netherlands, a maximum safe upper limit of 21 mg per day for adults is maintained for vitamin preparations. The Every Day multis remain well below this (maximum 4.2 mg). In addition, only pyridoxal-5'-phosphate (P-5'-P), the biologically active form of vitamin B6, is used, and not pyridoxine-HCL, which still needs to be converted in the body. Further research is currently being conducted to determine whether the aforementioned occasional side effects only occur with vitamin B6 in the form of pyridoxine-HCL and not, or to a lesser extent, with pyridoxal-5'-phosphate. There are indications that only pyridoxine-HCL in high doses is toxic to nerve cells.
Folic acid as 5-methyltetrahydrofolate
Folic acid (pteroylmonoglutamic acid), which is usually used in dietary supplements for stability reasons, is a synthetic form that does not occur naturally. In food, it occurs as folate. Folic acid from supplements must be converted by the body into tetrahydrofolate and then into 5-methyltetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF). Research shows that this complex conversion process is far from optimal in a significant group of people. Supplementation with 5-MTHF circumvents this problem.
In the Every Day multis, the superior form 5-methyltetrahydrofolate is used, bound to glucosamine salt (with the brand name Quatrefolic®). This binding with glucosamine salt (from a plant-based source) allows the biologically active form to remain stable and ensures optimal absorbability. Studies show that Quatrefolic® has higher water solubility, stability, and bioavailability. Additionally, 5-MTHF is able to cross the blood-brain barrier, unlike the 'ordinary' (synthetic) form of folic acid.
Vitamin B12 as methyl- and adenosylcobalamin
The absorption of vitamin B12 from food is a complex process. There are also indications that the RI (previously RDA) of 2.5 mcg per day is underestimated and that the needs of healthy adults and the elderly can vary and rise to well over 20 mcg per day. Due to the safety of vitamin B12 supplementation and the sometimes difficult absorption of B12 from food and supplements, the Every Day multis contain generous dosages, in the biologically active forms of methyl- and adenosylcobalamin.
Many other B12 products and multis contain cyanocobalamin, which is a cheaper, synthetic form of vitamin B12 that does not occur naturally and must be converted by the body into the active forms. During this process, the cyanide part is detached from the cobalamin (B12) and must then be cleared by the body. Studies also show that vitamin B12 in the form of methyl- and adenosylcobalamin has higher bioavailability than cyanocobalamin.
Generous vitamin D dosages, from a plant-based source
European government institutions have recently determined that the level for adequate intake of vitamin D from food needed to be higher (15 mcg) and that the maximum allowable dosage could be increased (100 mcg). In the Netherlands, they are still cautious and indicate that 10 mcg is sufficient and that the maximum amount is 75 mcg. The RI (or RDA) has oddly enough remained at 5 mcg. However, in the orthomolecular world, the importance of higher dosages has been known for quite some time. Leading vitamin D experts recommend that the vitamin D level (calcidiol level) of adults should be at least 75 nmol/l. To maintain such a vitamin D level, an oral dose of vitamin D3 is estimated to be needed between 25-75 mcg per day.
The Every Day multis contain generous dosages of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). This form is much more effective than vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) in raising the vitamin D level. Moreover, the new Every Day multis use plant-based vitamin D3 (Vitamin D3V®). It is produced from algae, and not from sheep's wool fat (as is the case with most vitamin D3 products). This makes all multis in the Every Day series now also suitable for vegans.
Vitamin K1 and K2
The Every Day multis now also contain a small amount of vitamin K1, alongside a higher dosage of vitamin K2. Vitamin K1 is mainly absorbed by the liver and primarily activates clotting factors, while vitamin K2 has greater bioavailability, is distributed more widely across body tissues, and is therefore more effective in activating other vitamin K-dependent enzymes such as osteocalcin and MGP. These ensure, among other things, that calcium is well absorbed and ends up in the right place, namely in the bones.
The body will always use vitamin K first for the vital blood clotting function. Because vitamin K2 is a much more expensive raw material than vitamin K1, a small amount of K1 is added to the multis so that it can be used for the priority blood clotting function and the K2 can be used for other very important functions.
The regularly established RI for vitamin K is based on the amount needed for normal blood clotting. Surprisingly, the optimal dosage of vitamin K for other vitamin K-dependent body processes has not been considered.
Stability of vitamin K2
Vitamin K2 turns out to be a very sensitive substance. Especially in combination with calcium and/or magnesium, the content of this vitamin in a tablet or capsule decreases rapidly. Using vitamin K2 in a product with high dosages of calcium and/or magnesium is technically a real challenge. Vitals therefore uses a K2 ingredient with the brand name K2Vital® Delta, which is even stable in a formula with many of these minerals. A patented micro-encapsulation process is used, in which the fat-soluble K2 particles are protected with two layers against air, light, and interaction with other ingredients. Vitals has conducted research into the stability of K2Vital® Delta in an independent laboratory, and it came out as the best in the test. It was compared with other brands of vitamin K2, specifically in combination with the ingredients used in Vitals products. The conclusions were that protecting the K2 is absolutely necessary, that the K2 content remained stable with K2Vital® Delta, and that it was superior to the other K2 ingredients.
Natural calcium and magnesium from the sea
From now on, the multis use calcium and magnesium from the brand Aquamin®, sourced from the sea. This allows much higher dosages to be achieved in the tablets than previously used compound forms, while the absorption of these ingredients is proven to be good.
The magnesium (Aquamin Magnesium) is obtained from the seawater of the Irish Sea, and studies show that it is well absorbed in the body. In addition to approximately 35% elemental magnesium, the raw material also contains small amounts of more than 70 trace elements.
The calcium (Aquamin Calcium) comes from a red algae called Lithothamnium calcareum. This type of algae absorbs minerals and trace elements from the sea and stores them. When alive, it has a beautiful red/pink colour, but when it dies, it calcifies and turns white or light grey. Only calcified red algae are harvested from the waters off the coast of Iceland. In addition to 32% calcium, the raw material also contains 3% magnesium and small amounts of more than 70 trace elements.
The synergistic effect of the natural trace element profile of this calcium and magnesium may partly explain the better absorbability and the impressive studies that have been done with it.
Iron, zinc, copper, and manganese as amino acid chelate (bisglycinate)
For the minerals iron, zinc, copper, and manganese, amino acid chelates (bisglycinates) have been chosen. In this form, each mineral particle is strongly bound (chelated) to two molecules of the amino acid glycine. Minerals in this form reach the small intestine well and are very well absorbed. They are also mild on the stomach, which can be a great advantage, especially in the case of iron. Moreover, Vitals specifically chooses the amino acid chelates from Albion Minerals, recognisable by the trademark TRAACS®, which stands for The Real Amino Acid Chelate System. This brand was created to distinguish it from other, possibly inferior, unstable amino acid chelates. Albion has registered more than 100 patents worldwide that guarantee the process, science, and structure of their amino acid chelated minerals.
Unique: relatively high choline dosage
Choline has long been somewhat standardly processed in multis. But almost always in low dosages (between 10-30 mg). Because not much was known about it. But much more is now known! In 2012, the European Commission approved three health claims for choline, which apply at a dosage of at least 82.5 mg. It is important for normal lipid metabolism, homocysteine metabolism, and normal liver function. In 2016, an RDA was established in America for the first time at 550 mg/day, based on clinical research specifically intended to determine daily needs. In 2016, the EFSA also ruled that choline is an essential nutrient, but has not yet established an RI. The adequate intake was set at 400 mg/day, based on the average intake in European countries, and not based on the American study that came out at 550 mg/day. The average intake of adults in Europe ranges between 291 and 468 mg/day. Reason enough to process a generous amount of choline in a daily multi!
In the Every Day multis, choline from the brand VitaCholine® is used. This brand stands for superior quality and has been extensively researched.
Lutein, zeaxanthin, and meso-zeaxanthin
Lutein, zeaxanthin, and meso-zeaxanthin are natural carotenoids. In the body, there is a high concentration of these substances in the retina and macula lutea ('yellow spot'). The body cannot produce lutein and zeaxanthin itself but must obtain them from food. They are found in green leafy vegetables and red, yellow, and orange fruits and vegetables. Meso-zeaxanthin is very limited in food (shrimp, salmon skin, trout skin, and flesh). It is mainly produced in the retina by converting lutein through an enzymatic reaction. It can be well supplemented. It has been relatively recently known that meso-zeaxanthin is a very good supplement and is preferred over supplementation with only lutein and zeaxanthin.

Is this multi suitable for an 11, almost 12-year-old? And are these tablets chewable? My daughter won't be able to swallow them otherwise. If not, what is a good alternative?
The Vitals Every Day Tablets are designed for adults and are not intended to be chewed. Although they are safe for children, they may be too large for a child to swallow.
As an alternative, I would recommend the Vitals Every Day Junior Stevia Children's Multi. These chewable tablets are specially designed for children aged 3 and above and have a pleasant strawberry flavour. They contain a comprehensive spectrum of essential vitamins and minerals, including 15 mcg of vitamin D3.
Additionally, I can also recommend our teen multi: https://www.vitaminstore.nl/product/vitaminstore-tiener-multi-multivitamine-vegicaps-290166 The capsules can also be opened and mixed with some juice, smoothie, or yoghurt.
If I have to choose between these Vitals tablets and Vegan Multi, which would you recommend and why? Thank you in advance for your response.
Both multivitamins are suitable for vegans. However, the Vegan Multi is specifically formulated for vegans, as the need for certain minerals and vitamins is increased. This includes vitamin B12, vitamin D3, and iron. Additionally, the Vegan Multi is supplemented with the amino acids (small protein fragments) Taurine 100 mg, L-carnitine 100 mg, and L-lysine HCl 100 mg. All these substances are primarily found in animal products.
If you do not follow a vegan diet, the Elke Dag multi tablet is an excellent supplement to your daily requirements.
Is it advisable to take extra vitamin D3 alongside this multi or is the dose in this multi sufficient? Perhaps in the autumn?
25 mcg of vitamin D3 is sufficient in the summer, but we recommend taking around 50 mcg per day during the winter. You can supplement the multi with Vitamin D3 25 mcg from Vitaminstore:

Hello, I've just discovered through the Vitals website that this jar has the exact same composition as their other multi Elke Dag Sport. Now I'm wondering what added value the NZVT certification has?
It is indeed true that both multivitamins have the same composition. The difference lies in the NZVT certification, which is important for top athletes. NZVT is the Dutch Security System for Top Sport Nutritional Supplements. The system offers manufacturers of nutritional supplements the opportunity to have their supplements tested for a fee. The products are checked per batch by a designated laboratory for substances indicated as doping. Additional checks are randomly conducted on these tests through a guarantee system. When a product/batch is found to be "clean", it is placed in the database.
What is the weight of 1 tablet?
The tablets weigh approximately 1850 mg.
