What is omega 3?

Omega 3 consists of a group of 3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, namely ALA, EPA, and DHA. ALA: alpha-linolenic acid is the plant-based variant of omega 3. DHA: docosahexaenoic acid and EPA: eicosapentaenoic acid are both animal-based variants of omega 3. Omega 3 fatty acids are present in all our cells where they play an important role in your health. It is therefore extra important for vegans and vegetarians to pay attention to their intake of EPA and DHA. Fortunately, there is a good plant-based alternative to fish oil, namely algal oil.
