We regard C8 as the most efficient fatty acid due to, among other things, its length. The body absorbs C10 slightly less quickly compared to C8. Where saturated fatty acids were once seen in a negative light, MCT oil falls under the category of healthy saturated fats.

Extracted from non-GMO and sustainable coconuts
Vitakruid's MCT oil is extracted from non-GMO coconuts, sourced from Southeast Asia and South America. The oil is obtained through cold pressing, which means it does not need to be hydrogenated. This is a chemical process that alters the consistency of the fat. Oil or soft fat is hardened in this way. Trans fatty acids can be formed during this process. Vitakruid's MCT oil is 100% trans-fat-free!

Additionally, this oil is viewed less critically because it undergoes a deodorisation process. This makes deodorised oil cheaper because only the very best coconuts are selected for non-deodorised oil. Vitakruid's MCT oil is not deodorised, thus retaining all its beneficial properties. 

Palm oil-free 
MCT fatty acids are mainly found in coconut oil and palm oil. Although MCTs are present in both forms, there are differences. The food industry has embraced palm oil as a cheap ingredient for various processed products. Cheaper MCT oils sometimes contain a mixture of these two types of oil. Vitakruid's MCT oil is based solely on coconut oil.

MCT oil safely in glass 
The MCT oil is packaged in glass immediately after the first cold pressing, the only packaging material considered safe by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). This is particularly important for products (such as oil) that can react to their packaging. Plastic often contains plasticisers like phthalates that make the plastic flexible and pliable. Depending on the type of plastic, certain plasticisers can leach in small amounts. 

Less oxidation due to glass
The glass packaging also protects the oil from external influences that cause oxidation. This is why oil is often packaged in a slightly darker (glass) bottle, so the oil is exposed to as little light and oxygen as possible.

MCT oil or powder? 
MCT is available in both oil and powder form. Most studies on the positive effects of MCT oil have been conducted with MCT oil. The most important factor is the quality of the product you choose. Low-quality MCT powders often contain added fillers and therefore have reduced efficacy. MCT oil is, compared to MCT powder, the purest form.

What can I use MCT Oil for? 
You can use MCT oil in various ways. For instance, you can add it to a (bulletproof) coffee, smoothie, or mix it with your morning oatmeal. Heat MCT oil up to a maximum of 175 degrees, making it less suitable for frying.
