Amino acids: the building blocks of proteins

Amino acids are indispensable in a healthy diet and are the building blocks of proteins. There are essential, non-essential, and semi-essential amino acids. Our body produces non-essential amino acids itself. Essential amino acids are not produced by our body and must be obtained through diet. The essential amino acids are:

Semi-essential amino acids are amino acids that the body can generally produce itself, but under certain conditions such as illness or age, production may be insufficient to meet the body's needs. In principle, you get enough proteins and thus the essential amino acids from food.
