In nature, approximately five hundred amino acids exist. Twenty of these serve as building blocks for proteins in the human body, referred to as 'fundamental amino acids'. These fundamental amino acids can be further categorised into 'essential', 'semi-essential', and 'non-essential'. Cysteine is a semi-essential amino acid that the body can produce from the amino acid L-ionine, but its synthesis may be insufficient under certain circumstances to meet the body's needs. Cysteine, like ionine, is one of the two fundamental amino acids that contain sulphur. N-acetyl-L-cysteine (also known as NAC) is the acetylated form of cysteine.
Supplementation with N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) offers advantages over L-cysteine as it is better tolerated, has higher bioavailability, and is less prone to oxidation. After ingestion, NAC can be converted into cysteine, which is a component of certain body proteins. Additionally, cysteine is one of the precursors of glutathione, which is biosynthesised from the amino acids cysteine, glycine, and glutamic acid.

N-acetyl-L-cysteine, anti-caking agent: rice concentrate, vegetarian capsule: pullulan (from fermented cassava starch).
Contains no:
Gluten, lactose, soy, GMOs, preservatives, and synthetic fragrances, colours, and flavours.
Suitable for vegetarians (not for vegans).
As a dietary supplement for adults, take 1-2 capsules per day between meals (at least half an hour before or two hours after a meal) with water, or as advised.
