L-lysine is naturally found mainly in animal foods, but this supplement is 100% plant-based, making it suitable for vegans. It contains no dairy or soy ingredients.

At the onset of a cold sore, take 1 tablet in the morning and 1 in the evening. This often prevents it from developing further or helps it disappear quickly.

On 12 december 2016 by Customer servicePlease note that 500 mg is a relatively low dose compared to the L-lysine we obtain from our daily diet. For instance, a glass of milk already provides about 700 mg of L-lysine. For therapeutic purposes, multiple capsules per day are advisable. In acute situations, it may be beneficial to take around 1500 to 3000 mg of L-lysine for several days, which translates to 3 to 6 capsules.

Instead of L-arginine, you could consider taking L-ornithine. This amino acid is used for the same purposes as L-arginine but is not chemically the mirror image of L-lysine. For example, the L-Ornithine 500 mg from Solgar or the L Ornithine 500 mg from AOV.
Moreover, during a course of L-lysine, for instance, 8000 mg per day, you can safely use 500 mg of L-arginine alongside it, as long as you ensure that there is significantly more L-lysine than L-arginine.
