Solgar Folate 400 µg (Folic Acid, Vitamin B-9, Vitamin Bc, Vitamin B-11) as Metafolin® is the active form of folic acid and plays a role in the formation of red blood cells, blood formation, and the synthesis of vitamin B-12. Folic acid is a methyl donor and thus helps in lowering homocysteine levels in the blood, stimulates intestinal peristalsis, and is good for memory. During stress, the use of certain medications including contraceptives and antibiotics, there is an increased need for folic acid. Pregnant women and those wishing to conceive are recommended to take extra intake to promote the proper development of the nervous system of the unborn child.

With my B12 deficiency, I take the folate 400 on injection days. But would the folate 1000 be better? Why or why not?

Therefore, always consult with your doctor to determine if a higher dosage is suitable for you, as an excessive folate intake without sufficient B12 can mask a B12 deficiency.

The packaging advises consultation during pregnancy. Can you take the recommended amount of folate at the beginning of pregnancy, or is there a different dosage to follow?

Hello, I also take Solgar Prenatal Nutrients daily. 2 per day. Should I also take an additional folate pill?
