Folic acid, for women who want to become pregnant.
In addition to all the essential vitamins, including 25 mcg of vitamin D and 800 mcg of folic acid, and minerals, Multi Prena Fem contains 400 mg of the omega-3 fatty acid DHA. Folic acid is beneficial for women who want to become pregnant and contributes to the normal growth of the foetus during pregnancy. Moreover, your immune system (vitamin D) and energy metabolism1 could surely use some support.
What does this multivitamin supplement support?
Multi Prena Fem contains - as mentioned - folic acid and vitamin D. The presence of DHA (from fish oil) is also noteworthy as it supports the brain function of the unborn child2. The daily intake of 200 mg DHA in addition to the recommended daily intake of omega-3 fatty acids for adults contributes to the normal development of the eyes in the foetus and in breastfed infants2. Vitamin D is important for the composition of bones and is beneficial for their immune system. Your resistance is supported by nutrients B6, B11, B12, C, D, copper, selenium, and zinc. Iron, iodine, manganese, and vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B8, B12, and C contribute to activating your natural energy.

Good afternoon, What is the reason for recommending 2 tablets during pregnancy? In terms of the dosage of folic acid and vitamin D, wouldn't 1 tablet per day suffice?
This supplement does not contain folate, but a water-soluble form of folic acid, which is less easily absorbed. During pregnancy, the need for vitamin D is increased. The minimum recommended amount is 10 micrograms, but a maintenance dose of 25 micrograms is a better choice.
Good morning, I've just found out that I'm pregnant. Which vitamins should I be taking? Is a multivitamin sufficient or do I need to take additional supplements? Thank you in advance.
First of all, congratulations on your pregnancy! That's wonderful news!
Orthica Multi Prena Fem is a comprehensive multivitamin specially designed for women who are planning to conceive, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding. It contains all the essential vitamins and minerals you need during this special time, including folate (also known as vitamin B11 or folic acid), vitamin D, and the omega-3 fatty acid DHA.
Folate contributes to the growth of the foetus during pregnancy. It is strongly recommended for women who are planning to become pregnant and for women in the early weeks of their pregnancy.
Vitamin D is also important during pregnancy as it contributes to the normal growth and development of the baby's bones.
The Omega-3 fatty acid DHA contributes to the normal development of the eyes and brain of the foetus and in breastfed babies.
With Orthica Multi Prena Fem, you generally do not need to take additional vitamins unless advised otherwise by your doctor. It is always a good idea to consult with your doctor or midwife about which supplements are best for you during your pregnancy.
Wishing you all the best during your pregnancy! Feel free to email us if you have any other questions!
Is it necessary to take Super Omega D3 (Omega 3) with this Orthica, or is this multi sufficient?
The Mult Prena Fem contains 25 mcg of vitamin D3 per 2 softgels. This is sufficient vitamin D3 during pregnancy. If you have a darker skin tone, additional D3 supplementation can be beneficial. The Omega 3 in the Mult Prena Fem, with 400 DHA, is adequate.
Can I safely combine this product with a lecithin supplement? (Breastfeeding)
The Prena fem can be safely combined with Lecithin while breastfeeding.
I notice that there is no calcium in the Multi Prena Fem, is there a reason for this? Would it be advisable to take a separate supplement for this during pregnancy, or is it not necessary? Also, the B12 is quite high with the recommended 2 supplements per day, how do you view this?
We have asked Orthica the reason why there is no calcium in the Multi Prena Fem for you:
Calcium, as a mineral, takes up a lot of space in a supplement. Because the compound is large, adding calcium to the Multi Prena Fem would mean that the softgels would become much larger, or the daily dosage would have to be increased, which would not benefit user-friendliness. Of course, calcium is a mineral that is important during pregnancy. Depending on the diet, it can be given as a separate supplement. For example, if pregnant women consume little dairy (where the largest daily calcium intake comes from), it may be advisable to supplement calcium alongside the Multi Prena Fem. A reasonably average intake of calcium is 800 mg/day, so to reach the optimal intake of 1000-1200, one Cal-Mag-Zinc tablet, which contains 330 mg of calcium per tablet, can be recommended.
Regarding the B12: Orthica is an orthomolecular brand, which assumes the ODH (optimal daily amount) instead of the RDA. They prioritise safety and use scientifically researched dosages. The EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) has not set a maximum safe dosage for vitamin B12, as it has been used safely in high dosages for a long time, even during pregnancy. Dosages of 2000mcg have been used safely for a long time. The body stores up to 5mg of vitamin B12 in the liver, to use when less is consumed through food. Any further excess of vitamin B12 is excreted and will not be absorbed by the body. Therefore, it is also safe to use for people without deficiencies. Furthermore, through passive absorption (in people who do not have an intrinsic factor), only about 1% of vitamin B12 is absorbed, which is 10mcg of the 1000mcg. So, the dosage is also sufficient for these people.
