I use Q-10, 100 mg, Astragalus Root, Vitamin C-1000, D3, and Curcumin. Can I take them all at the same time with dinner? And what is the difference between ubiquinone and ubiquinol? Is ubiquinol better? Thank you in advance.
All the mentioned supplements can be combined, and it is perfectly fine to take them simultaneously with the evening meal.
Ubiquinone is the oxidised form and is theoretically absorbed less efficiently than the reduced, active form, ubiquinol.
Both forms are present in our bodies. Ubiquinol is converted into ubiquinone as needed, and ubiquinone is converted back into ubiquinol.
Of the two, ubiquinol is less stable and its production is also more expensive.
The vast majority of research on the applications of Q10 in recent decades has been conducted using ubiquinone. Ubiquinol has only been available as a dietary supplement since 2006.
Because ubiquinol is very unstable (it tends to oxidise and thus can change into ubiquinone even while in the capsule), it is advisable to choose ubiquinol produced by Kaneka, as this production method stabilises the ubiquinol as much as possible. Kaneka ubiquinol is available from various brands.
However, until there is convincing evidence that taking ubiquinol is genuinely beneficial, there is a case for using ubiquinone, preferably dissolved in oil, such as in a softgel capsule. Ubiquinone is more cost-effective, making it easier for most people to take, for example, 200 or 300 mg per day.
