Hello, When taking this multi, should I also take separate B12 or D3 to maintain levels? I also take medication for an underactive thyroid. Thank you
On 09 december 2022 by Customer serviceThe Multi Woman 40+ contains sufficient B12. However, the dosage of vitamin D3 is on the low side at 5 mcg, so you would need to supplement this further.
Additionally, it's important to take your thyroid medication separately from your supplements. The advice is to take your medication in the morning or evening and the Multi Woman 40+ and vitamin D3 with lunch in the afternoon.
Until recently, I was taking the pregnancy complex from this same brand. I've now switched to this one. I'm not 40 but just looked at the proportions regarding the multis. Now, since I've been taking this, I've noticed fluorescent yellow urine. I didn't have this with the pregnancy complex. What causes this difference? And is this multi sufficient when combined with fish oil and vitamin D? For example, I find the iron and manganese content relatively low.
On 07 september 2020 by Customer serviceThe fluorescent yellow urine is due to the B2 vitamin: the Pregnancy complex contains only 1.6 mg, whereas the Women 40+ contains 12.5 mg, which explains why your urine is now more yellow. This is a normal occurrence. The Women 40+ is indeed low in iron, so we recommend possibly taking extra iron alongside Omega 3 and vitamin D3 if you're not getting enough from your diet and/or if you have a deficiency. Manganese is found in many foods such as grains, rice, nuts, leafy greens, fruit, meat, fish, and tea. There's no recommended daily allowance but a reference intake of 3 mg per day. If you suspect you're not getting enough from your diet, you might consider taking additional manganese.
On 11 april 2017 by Customer serviceThe multivitamin can be used without concern for extended periods. The amount of B6 (30 mg) is not exceptionally high. The government is considering lowering the maximum daily dosage of vitamin B6 to 25 mg per day, but given the lack of compelling scientific evidence that this is a realistic safe upper limit (as opposed to the current 100 mg), it remains to be seen whether this will ever become the official guideline. Most people can manage well with dosages of 40 or even 100 mg per day. In many other countries, a safe upper limit of 200 mg per day has been in place for decades.
Both a deficiency and an excess of B6 can lead to neurological issues. The dose in this multivitamin is relatively high, but as far as is known, not dangerously high. The vast majority of cases of neuropathy occur with long-term intake of more than 200 mg per day.
