This relates to official certifications. To obtain the official halal certification, a product must first be inspected by an imam from raw material to finished product. For the products from Solgar and Viridian, this has only been done for a small number of products. Meanwhile, many products have completed the kosher procedure. This is partly due to the fact that there is a greater demand for kosher-certified products in America than for halal-certified products.

The Vitamin D3 (Vegan) 2000 IU (50 µg) is halal in the general sense of the word (it also contains no alcohol), but because the packaging does not yet bear a certification, it states "halal - no".

The importer Solgar has chosen to describe it this way, even though it is quite confusing.

Vegan Vitamin D3 2000 IU contains 50 micrograms of vitamin D3 per capsule, derived from lichen cortex, in a cellulose (HPMC) capsule. The filler is alfalfa.

The composition of the contents of each capsule Vegan Vitamin D3 2000 IU is still exactly the same. One capsule still provides the high dosage of D3, namely 50 micrograms (2000 IU). Therefore, one capsule per day is more than sufficient as a maintenance dose.

Only if there is a confirmed deficiency is it advisable to temporarily increase the intake to 2 or even 3 capsules per day.

It is quite common for capsules and tablets to change shape without any change in the contents. For example, because the manufacturer has discovered that the contents also fit in a smaller capsule, or conversely, it has been found that the contents do not fit well in the originally chosen capsule.
