Which is better from Solgar: Ubiquinol 100 mg or co-enzyme q-10 120 mg from Solgar (ubiquinone)?
On 28 august 2020 by Customer serviceUbiquinol is the biologically active form of Co-enzyme Q10. Ubiquinone is the inactive form that the body still needs to convert into ubiquinol. Research has shown that the intake of ubiquinol, compared to an equal amount of ubiquinone, results in higher Q10 levels in the blood plasma.
In other words: Both ubiquinol and ubiquinone are valuable dietary supplements, but when using ubiquinol (the active form), lower dosages suffice. This can make a difference by a factor of 2-4.
Therefore, Ubiquinol 100 mg is more effective compared to Q10 120 mg.
I would like to start using Ubiquinol 100mg, but I wonder what explains the price difference between Solgar and Vitals.

Solgar manufactures the capsules in America. These capsules then need to be transported via England to the Netherlands. Because capsules and jars take up much more space than the Kaneka Q10 raw material, the costs of importing Q10 for Vitals are significantly lower. By processing the Kaneka Q10 into capsules in the Netherlands, the production costs and therefore the selling price remain relatively low.
