I've read that you should ideally take the tablet with a carbohydrate-rich meal. However, I'm following a keto diet; can I still use this and will it be effective?

The recommendation to take NAC with a carbohydrate-rich meal mainly stems from the idea that certain amino acids (like cysteine, from which NAC is derived) are absorbed slightly better in conjunction with insulin release.
However, this effect is minimal, and NAC is also well absorbed without carbohydrates.
So, you can confidently take it with a protein- or fat-rich meal, or on an empty stomach if you tolerate that better.
The supplement retains its effectiveness and benefits within a keto diet.
I have a somewhat sensitive stomach and when using NAC 600 from another brand, I experienced severe heartburn. And it seems to be happening again now. How can I prevent that?

My husband uses Losartan potassium for his blood pressure and Metformin for his type 2 diabetes. Is it permissible to use NAC alongside these?
