Because I could use some support for my menopause issues, I started taking Evening Primrose Oil 1300 mg (evening primrose oil, GLA). I did that for 3 days, until I got a massive headache... 3 days in bed... After stopping taking this product, the headache disappeared (thankfully). Looking for something else!

Is it permissible to use evening primrose oil alongside a vitamin B-complex that already contains the maximum dosage of vitamin B6?

I recently purchased this Primrose Oil 1300 mg. I was just wondering, considering potential side effects (I've read that headaches can sometimes occur and I am quite sensitive to that), whether it would be wise to start with 500 mg (plus the 400 mg I already get from the Lucovitaal fish oil, making a total of 900 mg). If so, how long should I build up? Or is the chance of side effects small enough that I could start with the 1300 mg plus the 400 mg from fish oil straight away? Thank you in advance for your response.
On 11 june 2019 by Customer serviceSide effects of evening primrose oil are rare and typically only occur at higher dosages of at least 2000 mg per day. With a total intake of 1700 mg of evening primrose oil, it is unlikely that you will experience these side effects.
You might consider starting with one capsule of Lucovitaal's fish oil (which contains 200 mg of evening primrose oil) along with the Primrose Oil 1300 mg, making a total of 1500 mg of evening primrose oil, to see how this works for you.
