Organic Psyllium

In this case, it concerns a slightly less straightforward product because the flax is grown organically, and organic flax is rarer than flax from conventional agriculture. Especially after the very dry summer of 2018 for many countries (many failed harvests), bee deaths, etc.

The manufacturer cannot supply the product at this moment. It is expected to be back in stock from the end of July.

I see that the organic flax from several other brands (Hanoju, Vitals and Cruydhof) is also unavailable.

However, this one from Solgar is (still) available:

It is generally not necessary to continue using psyllium fibres, as temporary use often breaks a vicious cycle, allowing one to rely on the fibres found in fruits, raw vegetables, greens, seeds, etc., and the right forms of physical exercise (including stretching exercises).

Moreover, manufacturers of food and dietary supplements are not allowed to suggest that their product should be used permanently, as if it were medication. Therefore, you will find statements on such packaging (especially with psyllium in capsules) along the lines of "dietary supplements do not replace a healthy, varied diet."

Psyllium fibres are very stable in an unopened package. They do not contain fats or proteins that can spoil.

However, once the package is opened, they tend to clump together due to moisture exposure.

If the fibres are still loose and do not have an unpleasant smell, they can still be used perfectly well. The expiry date is a very general guideline for many of these types of products. Fibres can be used for many years if stored properly. However, once a package is opened, it is better to use the fibres all at once (according to the guidelines on the label, for example, 5 grams daily).

A package that is out of date and has been opened for over a year should be discarded.
