During pregnancy, it is not always possible to obtain all the necessary vitamins from food. Therefore, the Health Council advises taking 400 µg of folic acid in the form of a dietary supplement per day, starting four weeks before pregnancy. Four weeks before pregnancy is the ideal time to begin building up the concentration of folic acid in the body. This way, the folic acid status is optimal at the time of conception. Therefore, if you are planning to conceive, it is advisable to start taking folic acid immediately and not wait until after fertilisation has occurred.
Folic acid contributes to the formation of the placenta and the growth of the baby. This reduces the risk of conditions such as a cleft lip or spina bifida. This supplement uses the active form of folic acid, namely Quatrefolic®/5-methyltetrahydrofolate. This active form is also found in broccoli, spinach, and other vegetables, making it more easily absorbed by the body. The supplements come in the form of Plantcaps®, made from tapioca (derived from the cassava root). Only brown rice is used as an excipient in this product, making the supplement completely pure. The capsules are mini-sized, making them easier to take.

Is this form of folic acid suitable for use with B12 injections?

I am 4 weeks pregnant. Is this folic acid sufficient if I take one capsule per day, or should I take more?

Therefore, the Health Council advises taking 400 µg of folic acid in the form of a dietary supplement daily, starting four weeks before pregnancy. Essential Organics pure biologically active folic acid contains 400 µg of folic acid in the biologically active form of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate as Quatrefolic®.
For additional vitamins such as folic acid and minerals that are also needed during pregnancy, you might consider the pregnancy essentials from Essential Organics or the prenatal from Vitaminstore. Both products also contain 400 µg of folic acid in the biologically active form of 5-methyltetrahydrofolate as Quatrefolic®.
Are these capsules that you can split in half? Or are they more like soft gels where this isn't possible? I would like to take 600 mcg of active folic acid instead of 400 mcg.
