D-mannose is a sugar found in pineapples, apples, pears, and the well-known cranberry. Unlike most other sugars, D-mannose is not converted into glycogen or stored in the liver. Consuming D-mannose also has no significant impact on blood sugar levels.

After consumption, D-mannose is absorbed into the bloodstream unchanged and is then excreted through the urine.
