Resveratrol and Pterostilbene are both polyphenols. Polyphenols are found in various vegetables, fruits, and herbs. There are different types of polyphenols, with Pterostilbene and Resveratrol belonging to the phytoalexins. Resveratrol is mainly found in (red) grapes, where it primarily serves as a defence compound to protect the plant against, for instance, fungi and bacteria. Resveratrol and Pterostilbene are therefore related compounds, but there are some clear differences that manifest when used as a dietary supplement. Therefore, it is valuable to combine these two polyphenols in one product.
