Whey Concentrate
When milk is treated with certain enzymes (rennet), a coagulated mass (the curd) is formed from which cheese is made and a light yellow, slightly sour liquid remains. This is the whey water or simply whey. By using warm air, all the water is removed from the whey, leaving a powder. This powder is then filtered using cold cross-flow microfiltration. This keeps the protein content as high as possible, while most of the carbohydrates and fats are left behind. The result is a protein powder with a protein content of about 78%, with the protein structure remaining intact; the concentrate.

Whey Isolate
In the case of whey isolate, this process goes a step further. Further cold cross-flow microfiltration takes place, resulting in even smaller particles. This makes it possible to filter out almost all carbohydrates and fats from the whey. The result is a protein content of up to 93%.

Whey Hydrolysate
To achieve the most absorbable and purest protein, whey isolate can also be hydrolysed. Hydrolysis ensures that the proteins of the whey isolate are 'cut' into smaller particles by enzymes. This is comparable to the digestion process in your intestine. The whey protein is, as it were, pre-digested. This produces di- and tri-peptides, the smallest possible particles in which you can get proteins while they remain intact. This makes the protein easily digestible.

Due to the differences in digestion speed in the body, there is a prolonged release of digested proteins into the blood. Proteins contribute to the growth of muscle mass and ensure quick recovery of muscles after physical exertion. In addition, they provide more muscle strength and help maintain strong bones.
