Quercetin is a natural, lemon-yellow pigment that belongs to the flavonols, a subgroup of the bioflavonoids. Formerly, quercetin was also referred to as vitamin P. It is found in in many different types of plant-based foods such as apples, berries, citrus fruits, cabbage varieties, red onions, but also in tea, nuts, and cacao. Storing these foods at higher temperatures or cooking and/or peeling them causes some loss of quercetin. The average intake of quercetin from food can vary greatly; it provides 5 mg to 80 mg per day with peaks up to 250 mg to 500 mg per day.
Quercefit®
Due to poor absorbability, the biological activity in the body is low. Quercetin from Vitaminstore therefore contains the patented Quercefit®, which uses the patented Phytosome® technology. This involves using phytosomal quercetin; a homogeneous mixture of quercetin particles and phospholipids. This enhances the absorption and bioavailability in the body by 10 times compared to regular quercetin! The quercetin is extracted from the flowers of the pagoda tree (Sophora japonica L.).
In addition to Quercefit® it also contains vitamin E, zinc, and a citrus bioflavonoid complex that support each other's function. Vitamin E and zinc are antioxidants. This means they protect healthy cells and tissues by helping to neutralize free radicals. These free radicals (caused by UV radiation and air pollution, for example) can cause oxidative damage to cells in the body. Vitamin E and zinc also contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system, thus supporting good resistance.

Shouldn't there be copper alongside zinc in quercetin for the right balance?

Can the Quercetin capsule be opened and the contents mixed with (orange) juice?

Your own brand's Quercetin contains only 92 mg of quercetin, yet you claim that, apparently due to the combination with lecithin, it is absorbed 10 times better. Does this mean that I get the effect of 920 mg of quercetin? Because I want to take approximately 1000 mg every day. If not, how can I most easily and affordably reach my 1000 mg per day?

Would it be alright for my son to use it as well?

A dietary supplement that contains only quercetin, such as the quercetin from Vitals or Vitakruid, might be suitable, or the quercetin complex from Solgar, but in an adjusted dose. A general guideline is that a child aged 12 (or approximately 50kg with a normal build) can use the recommended adult dose. A child weighing around 25kg can take the contents of 1 capsule, possibly divided into two portions (in the morning and in the afternoon).
