Source of gamma-linolenic acid
Evening primrose oil is naturally a source of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). This is a polyunsaturated omega-6 fatty acid that is rarely found in food. In principle, the body can produce GLA itself from (cis) linoleic acid. However, in situations where there is an increased need, it can be beneficial to supplement the diet with a GLA supplement. Factors that can play a role in this include excessive consumption of trans fats, saturated fats, sugar, alcohol, and carbohydrates. Evening primrose oil can be used to support a normal menstrual cycle or to care for the skin from within. It also contributes to maintaining a balanced immune response.
