A similar principle applies to vitamin D. This vitamin is important for the development and growth of children's skeletons. However, newborns are not able to obtain sufficient vitamin D from their diet or sunlight. This is why the Health Council recommends supplementation with both vitamin D and K.1,2 

Vitamin D is essential for building strong bones in children
The sunshine vitamin is widely known as important for health, but this is even more true for young children. Especially during the developmental phase, a child needs it. Vitamin D is necessary for the normal growth and development of children's bones. Its role includes enhancing calcium absorption. Furthermore, this nutrient is beneficial for the cell division process and plays a part in tissue growth and development. Vitamin D also positively influences the immune system of children. In other words, a vitamin with a broad impact for the very young!

Vitamin K aids in normal blood clotting
Vitamin K2 is found in animal-based foods like cheese and quark, as well as in fermented natto. Babies have an increased need for this nutrient at birth. Vitamin K contributes to proper blood clotting.

Vitamin D3 in the right dosage up to 4 years
The Health Council advises giving children up to 4 years old an extra 10 mcg of vitamin D per day.2 However, the quality of the vitamin D form can vary significantly. The sunshine vitamin comes in two forms.

Vitamin D3 is the best form
One is ergocalciferol (vitamin D2), mainly found in mushrooms. The second form is cholecalciferol (vitamin D3); this is the form that humans (and animals) produce themselves under the influence of the sun. The latter is the most biologically available form and is therefore best absorbed by our bodies. That is why this is the form we have included in our Vitamin K & D Baby.

Note!
The last drops are difficult to get out of the bottle. Tip: pour the remaining liquid into a cup or mug and then draw it up with the pipette.
