Why 5-HTP is preferred over L-tryptophan
Dietary supplements with 5-HTP have been used for a long time and have proven to be reliable and effective during that period. 5-HTP is well absorbed by the body, even when taken with a meal, and can easily cross the blood-brain barrier. Unlike L-tryptophan, 5-HTP does not need to compete with other amino acids for absorption, as it does not require a shared transport molecule. Furthermore, 5-HTP does not need to be converted in the body before it becomes active. This is the case with L-tryptophan, and moreover, the majority of L-tryptophan is used for the production of proteins and other substances, leaving little for the production of serotonin and melatonin. Due to these advantages, 5-HTP is generally more effective, and lower dosages are needed to achieve results.
How much 5-HTP can you take per day?

30% standardised Griffonia simplicifolia extract, HPMC vegetarian capsule (shell).
Take 1-2 capsules daily with water, preferably before bedtime. Do not use in combination with medications that affect brain metabolism, such as antidepressants and sedatives.
Not suitable during pregnancy (or if pregnancy is desired) and/or breastfeeding. Not suitable for children up to and including 17 years of age. Consult an expert before use in case of illness or medication.
Storage advice
Store in a cool, dry place and keep sealed. Keep out of reach of children. Best before end and batch number: see bottom.
