Furthermore, vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums, teeth, and skin. Vitamin C also contributes to a normal energy-yielding metabolism, a normal functioning nervous system, normal psychological function, and a normal functioning immune system. It also helps protect cells against oxidative damage and contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Vitamin C also increases iron absorption. The requirement for Vitamin C is higher than for any other water-soluble vitamin, and because Vitamin C is rapidly excreted, a Time Release form is often chosen. This keeps the Vitamin C level in the blood more stable for a longer period. It further mimics the natural situation of food digestion, and the effects of the Vitamin C are present for longer. Excipients:
Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, dicalcium phosphate, cellulose, stearic acid, silicon dioxide, and magnesium stearate. Tablet: hydroxypropyl methylcellulose and glycerine. Hypo-allergenic formula.
Usage:
One tablet every 6 hours (maximum 2 per day), unless otherwise advised. Lamberts Vitamin C 1000 mg is formulated to release its substances gradually over a period of 6 hours.
Warnings for use:
Intake of more than 1 gram of vitamin C per dose or more than 3 grams per day can sometimes lead to diarrhoea.
