Tips for Dry Skin
While an oily skin produces excess sebum, dry skin is quite the opposite. If your skin feels tight, itchy, and shows cracks, it is likely you have dry skin. Whether your skin is temporarily dehydrated during the winter months or you experience this all year round, there are plenty of ways to give your skin a helping hand. Achieve healthy skin from the inside and out with these tips.
Tip 1: Choose the Right Temperature
In our little country, the heating is often on. It feels pleasant, but your skin is less happy about it. The dry air from the heating only dries out your skin further. An easy solution is to turn the heating down a bit and wear an extra layer. Also beneficial for the energy bill, 😉 win-win!
Apart from the heating, let's talk about water temperature. As nice as a warm bath or shower can be, too hot water dries out the skin. Lower the temperature slightly or opt for a shorter shower. Additionally, ensure you hydrate your skin well after showering with, for example, body lotion.
Tip 2: Nourish the Skin from Within with Supplements
Every skin benefits from support from within. The foundation is healthy nutrition and sufficient water, but certain supplements can also give your skin a boost.
Pure GLA (Gamma-linolenic acid) is an omega 6 fatty acid that supports the skin's natural ability to retain moisture. Ideal for dry skin! This helps keep the skin youthful, smooth, and radiant. Our Skin Hair Nail supplement is also a good addition, with vitamin C to support collagen production, and vitamins B2 and B3 to maintain the normal structure and function of the skin. Lastly, Super Omega D3 is a good one to add to your vitamin routine. Vitamin D is good for the cell division process, and vitamin A is good for the skin.
Tip 3: Use Gentle Cleansing Products
A dry skin requires gentle cleansing that does not further dry out or damage the skin. Opt for a cleansing milk from Estime & Sens for gentle cleansing or the cleansing cream from Dr Hauschka that regulates moisture balance.
Tip 4: Hydrate the Skin with the Right Care Products
For dry skin, it is important that care products hydrate well and support maintaining the moisture balance in the skin. Our favourites are the Rose Cream from Dr Hauschka, the SOS Hydra Recharge Cream from Madara for optimal hydration, the Grape Water from Caudalie, and for 2-4 times a week the SOS Hydra Moisture+Radiance Mask for a full and hydrated skin.
