Recommended by the naturopath. Very satisfactory
I feel good taking ubiquinol 50 mg. I take it because I hope it will lower my cholesterol a bit, and I feel it has a positive effect on my blood pressure. Research has shown it is good for the heart and blood vessels. I chose Vitals after looking at various brands, and this one seemed very good.
This product contains 50 mg of ubiquinol, the most biologically active form of Q10. Supplements with Q10 usually use the oxidised form of this nutrient, known as ubiquinone. After oral intake, oxidised Q10 is largely converted into ubiquinol, the reduced form of Q10. This conversion process, which can be challenging for various reasons (such as advancing age), is not necessary when using ubiquinol. Ubiquinol in a ready-to-use form has been available for use in supplements since 2006. Orally administered ubiquinol is better absorbed and leads to greater bioavailability than ubiquinone. In many situations, supplementation with ubiquinol is therefore preferred over regular Q10.
Research has shown in both animals and humans that administration of ubiquinol, compared to an equal amount of ubiquinone, results in higher Q10 levels in blood plasma. Further research indicates that the differences are more pronounced in older people than in younger individuals. In a study where healthy older adults received 100 mg of ubiquinol or 100 mg of ubiquinone three times a day, it was found that the plasma Q10 level was twice as high in those who had received ubiquinol. Additionally, there are indications that replacing ubiquinone with ubiquinol supplementation can lead to even greater differences in plasma Q10 levels in certain individuals.
Internal and external sources of Q10
The body is supplied with coenzyme Q10 both through its own production and dietary intake. Foods with the highest concentrations of Q10 include dark green vegetables such as broccoli and spinach, nuts, and meat. Offal, in particular, is a relatively good source of Q10.
The multi-step internal production of Q10 requires the presence of a wide range of nutrients. Poor dietary habits can therefore easily lead to insufficient Q10 supply. Moreover, the amount of reduced Q10 (ubiquinol) available through the daily diet is generally limited, as ubiquinol is easily oxidised to ubiquinone during food preparation. The body's ability to produce Q10 itself generally decreases gradually with age, a process that often begins around the age of forty. It has also been found that the body is less able to convert ubiquinone into ubiquinol in older age. In older animals, the ratio of ubiquinol concentration to total Q10 concentration in plasma improved significantly when ubiquinol supplementation was used, whereas this effect was less pronounced with ubiquinone administration. A healthy diet is a prerequisite for ensuring sufficient coenzyme Q10 in the body. To supplement dietary Q10 intake, one can opt for supplementation with a Q10, or better yet, a ubiquinol preparation.
Kaneka Ubiquinol™
Dietary supplements with coenzyme Q10 have been available for decades, but initially, these were exclusively preparations with ubiquinone, the oxidised form of Q10. This was because ubiquinol easily oxidises when exposed to air or light, creating insurmountable challenges in producing a supplement that retained the nutrient's reduced state. However, Vitals' supplier of Ubiquinol, the Japanese company Kaneka, has succeeded in developing a patented process using advanced technology to create a ubiquinol supplement of consistent quality. As a Q10 specialist with years of experience, Kaneka can also guarantee that Kaneka Ubiquinol™ is fully natural and body-identical, offering the highest possible bioavailability.

More importantly, however, is the question of why it was recommended to you. Normally, the body's own production of Q10 during the fertile phase of life is more than sufficient.
