I have been using Astaxanthin for years. This one from Vitals is more highly dosed than average and supplemented with vitamins C and E.
I have been using this for a few months now, and it helps with *** eyes and a *** skin. I have not been ***(and **** usually always). Additionally, I have never experienced **** after exercising. It could be coincidence, but in my opinion, this is an all-rounder.
I give it a rating of 3 stars, but actually it is too early to say anything after 2 weeks of use.
Astaxanthin is a carotenoid produced by plankton, algae, certain plants, and microorganisms. This carotenoid is created to help these organisms defend against the harmful effects of sunlight and oxygen. Various animals, such as salmon and flamingos, consume organisms lower down the food chain and thus ingest astaxanthin. This substance is partly responsible for the pink colour of salmon and flamingos. Humans cannot produce carotenoids themselves, so we need to obtain them through our diet. There are two types of carotenoids: carotenes and xanthophylls. Carotenes consist only of the elements carbon and hydrogen. Examples include β-carotene and lycopene. Xanthophylls contain oxygen in addition to carbon and hydrogen. Besides lutein and zeaxanthin, astaxanthin from Astamax also falls under this latter category.
The richest natural source of astaxanthin
The green algae (Haematococcus pluvialis) used by Vitals as a source of astaxanthin has been used in dietary supplements for more than 10 years and is very safe for consumption. This microalgae is the richest natural source of astaxanthin. Haematococcus pluvialis is found worldwide, from African lakes to snowfields at the North Pole.
Why Vitals Astamax?
In addition to no less than 6 mg of astaxanthin per softgel capsule, Astamax contains vitamin C and vitamin E. Vitamin C and E have antioxidant effects and help protect the body's cells from external influences, such as sunlight and air pollution.
