Vitamin D3: the sunshine vitamin
Vitamin D3 is a fat-soluble vitamin and is known as the sunshine vitamin. 

Our body can produce D3 itself when the skin is exposed to sunlight. Additionally, vitamin D3 is present in small amounts in foods such as oily fish (salmon, mackerel, anchovies) and in mushrooms (D2) exposed to light. A supplement can be a valuable way to support your vitamin D3 intake.

Why is vitamin D supplementation important?
In the Netherlands, the sun is only strong enough for part of the year to provide the skin with sufficient radiation. As a result, natural production is often limited, and it is necessary for many people to obtain extra vitamin D3 from other sources, such as a vitamin D supplement.

Vitamin K2:
Vitamin K2, also known as menaquinone, is an important nutrient that supports various processes in the body. There are two different forms of vitamin K, vitamin K1 and K2. Vitamin K1 is mainly found in leafy greens such as spinach, endive, and kale. Vitamin K2 is present in small amounts in animal products such as dairy, eggs, meat, and in fermented foods such as natto (a Japanese soybean preparation).

Vitamin D has two different forms: ergocalciferol (D2) from plant sources and cholecalciferol (D3) from animal sources. Vitamin K2 comes in several variants, designated as MK-4 through MK-14. For our Vitamin D3 & K2 softgels, we exclusively choose menaquinone-7 (MK-7). This form of vitamin K2 is the most stable and the most absorbable. Whereas vitamin K1 remains active in the body for only one to two hours, vitamin K2 MK-7 has a half-life of over 72 hours. This means that this biologically active form has sufficient time to reach the blood vessels, bones, and other tissues in the body.

Our vitamin K2 is naturally obtained through fermentation with Bacillus subtilis natto. Through careful standardisation (10,000 ppm), each softgel contains 40 µg of vitamin K2 MK-7. This ensures a pure and consistent dosage every time.

MCT oil as a carrier for the best absorption of vitamins D and K
Vitamin D3 and K2 are fat-soluble vitamins and are therefore better absorbed when dissolved in oil. In our softgels, we use MCT oil as a carrier.
