Magnesium taurate is a biologically available and organically bound form of magnesium. Inorganic forms of magnesium such as magnesium chloride, magnesium hydroxide, and magnesium sulphate are less biologically available and therefore less well absorbed. For instance, magnesium sulphate has a biological availability of only 4%. This means that a dosage of 200 mg magnesium sulphate is effectively just a mere 8 mg. The best forms we know are magnesium chelates such as magnesium taurate, magnesium malate, and magnesium bisglycinate. Your daily diet generally contains inorganically bound magnesium. These are the forms that occur in the soil and are absorbed by the plants you eat daily. Examples include magnesium oxide and magnesium carbonate. L-taurine
Magnesium taurate is a combination of the amino acid taurine and magnesium. In this combination, magnesium and taurine have a synergistic effect, making this form of magnesium very well absorbed. Absorption of l-taurine takes place via the amino acid transport system in the small intestine. Through this active transport system, the bound magnesium quickly enters the bloodstream, where it is transported to the rest of your body. This allows you to experience the optimal effect of the magnesium!

Elemental magnesium
A label must always state the elemental amount of a mineral. The molecular compound of magnesium taurate contains 8% elemental magnesium. That may seem little, but an elemental amount of magnesium of 60 mg derived from 750 mg magnesium taurate can be considered equivalent to about 400 mg elemental magnesium bound to citrate. Indeed, the absorbability of magnesium bound to l-taurine is much greater!

Pyridoxal-5-phosphate
Vitamin B6 has many scientifically proven health-promoting effects on the body. For instance, the vitamin is good for the production of red blood cells, protein production, and cysteine production. Pyridoxal-5-phosphate (the biologically active, co-enzymatic form of vitamin B6) has better biological availability and is safer than pyridoxine. Vitakruid uses only the P-5-P form in its products.
