Betaine hydrochloride (HCL) is the hydrochloride salt form of the enzyme betaine. Typically, the stomach produces hydrochloric acid itself as soon as fats or carbohydrates reach the stomach. Factors such as overconsumption of carbohydrates and fats, stress, and ageing reduce the production of hydrochloric acid in the stomach.

Ultimate synergistic formula
Supplementation with betaine HCL and pepsin acts as an extraordinarily powerful synergistic formula. A particularly close-knit team that enhances each other's effects. The body does not produce pepsin directly as an active enzyme. The parietal cells in the stomach produce pepsinogen, the precursor to pepsin. The hydrochloric acid (betaine HCL) in the stomach cavity then transforms pepsinogen into the active form pepsin. Only now can pepsin perform its function within our body. A lot of pepsinogen is lost in the conversion to pepsin. It is therefore extremely efficient to supplement the active forms of pepsin and betaine.

Addition of pepsin with high enzyme activity
When selecting a good enzyme, you should not necessarily focus on the dosage of an enzyme, but on the so-called enzyme activity. Vitakruid has added no less than 160 mg of pepsin to this combination with an extremely high enzyme activity of 1:3000. High activity is easy to recognise: the higher the second number, the more active the enzyme in the respective combination. The activity of an enzyme is not mentioned on many products. The test kit contains ten tablets with which you can easily check if Betaine HCL with pepsin is a suitable product for you! Take one tablet with 650 mg betaine HCL and 160 mg pepsin halfway through a protein- and fat-rich main meal. If the discomfort does not worsen, but rather decreases, then supplementation with betaine HCL may help.
