Matcha is Japanese green tea in powdered form. Its colour is bright green, and its taste is earthy. Some people may need a bit of time to get used to it, while others become instantly hooked! Matcha isn’t cheap, but that’s because only the very best and youngest leaves of the tea plant are suitable for matcha, and its production and processing require a lot of experience and patience. Matcha has become popular partly due to the good properties attributed to it. It is often referred to as green gold. This matcha is categorised in the highest quality classes and is therefore perfectly suited for making tea or lattes. Be sure to use water or (plant-based) milk at around 80°C, otherwise matcha becomes bitter. Because matcha contains relatively high caffeine levels (a quarter of what is in coffee), it makes for a delightful pick-me-up!
