Maple syrup is available in different grades: A and C. These quality indications refer to the clarity and taste of the syrup. - Maple syrup grade A is obtained during the first tapping and is light brown in colour. - Maple syrup grade C is (dark) brown and has a stronger caramel flavour. Maple syrup is excellent for use as a sweetener in various baked goods, applesauce, stewed pears, fruit salads, pudding, muesli and yoghurt, on fruits, ice cream, pastries and pancakes. It can also be used as a sweetener in tea or coffee.
