Good afternoon, I take Solgar Formula VM 75 every day. Now I'm considering adding an extra vitamin D3 tablet/capsule to my routine. Is this advisable, and if so, which one should I choose? Thank you in advance for your response.
On 19 september 2021 by Customer serviceYes, we certainly recommend this because the VM 75 contains the inactive form of vitamin D, namely D2, and is also low-dosed. We always advise opting for at least 25 mcg of vitamin D3 (the active form) during the summer and 50 mcg of vitamin D3 during the winter period (October to April). Normally, I take Solgar Vitamin D3 400IU (10UG) 2 capsules per day. This week, I thought I ordered 600IU, but I now have Solgar Vitamin D3 1000IU (25UG). Can I just take 1 capsule now, or is that too much? I should mention I'm 50 and hardly go outside, so I don't get any sun that way either.
On 08 february 2021 by Customer service1 capsule per day is fine, but it would be optimal to take 2 capsules per day. In winter, we actually advise taking at least 50 mcg per day, especially if you don't go outside much. The safely established daily dose is 100 mcg of vitamin D, and this is with a generous margin.
Good morning, I can no longer see the Solgar D3 4000IU in the webshop. Is it still available, or is it no longer part of your range?

I’ve been taking 3 soft gels of 1,000 IU a day for YEARS, on the advice at the time of a (knowledgeable) sales assistant in a health food shop. I’ve now read that the dosage of 1 gel per day should not be exceeded. What are the consequences of years of overdosing? Kind regards, Janny Phiel
On 07 april 2026 by Customer serviceYou’ve been using 3,000 IU per day for years. This is still below the safe upper limit and usually doesn’t cause any problems. Only at higher dosages over a longer period can symptoms occur, such as an excessively high calcium level. If you have no symptoms, the chance of harm is small. It is, however, sensible to have your vitamin D level checked to be sure your dosage is right for you.
Is this product halal?
