Shilajit is a black-brown, sticky, resin-like substance found in the serene environment of the Himalayas. It has formed over thousands of years in the mountains. It is created through a slow process where organic material, such as plant remains, is transformed under extreme pressure and temperature in the mountains. Shilajit is collected from steep rock faces at altitudes between 1000 and 5000 metres. Mattisson Shilajit is sourced from India.
In Ayurveda, Shilajit is classified as a 'rasayan' (which in Sanskrit means rejuvenator and immunomodulator) and as a 'medhya rasayan' [a rejuvenator for 'medha' (intellect)].
Shilajit consists of fresh and altered remains of humus, the characteristic organic component of soils.
Mattisson Shilajit is a 10:1 extract, with hot water used as the extraction medium. The product is standardised to 20% fulvic acid and 60% humic acid. It is free from heavy metals, pesticides and is non-GMO.
