Mattisson organic Guar Bean Fibres Sunfiber® are derived from the endosperm of the guar plant from India. The Latin name of the guar plant is Cyamopsis tetragonoloba. Guar beans are a rich source of soluble fibre. Soluble fibre is also known as prebiotics. Prebiotics reach the large intestine undigested, where bacteria break them down through fermentation into short-chain fatty acids (acetate, butyrate and propionate). These fatty acids serve as an energy source for, amongst others, the intestinal epithelium. Fermentable fibres include, for example, fibres from vegetables, fruit, potatoes and pulses.
