The difference in nutritional values partly stems from the origin and type; the organic is Chlorella Vulgaris, and the European is Chlorella Sorokiana. Unfortunately, they do not have the same data available for both, hence the difference in what they can convey.

Regarding sunlight in the Netherlands: European Chlorella is cultivated in large tanks. This method allows for minimal sunlight exposure. The European one being more expensive than the organic one is because the European is grown on a much smaller scale than the organic. Moreover, the European chlorella has comparable or better conditions concerning organic cultivation, but since there is no legislation in Europe for the organic cultivation of microalgae, this product cannot be sold as organic. Because such legislation exists in China and international trade is arranged in such a way that a product retains its organic status (provided certain conditions are met), Chlorella from China can be sold as organic.
