A lovely little escape, a cycle ride. Sun shining, the afternoon is perfect. And then it happens, a bump in the road or an obstacle on the path. You fall. A nasty graze is the result, but luckily you keep the damage minimal. Because you're well-prepared and can soon carry on your way.

HeltiQ Gauze Compress is a sterile compress for cleaning and covering both wet and dry wounds (wet wounds are those with a lot of wound fluid). It can be used with any (disinfecting) liquid. The HeltiQ Gauze Compress has a fine structure and is made of 100% cotton. This allows it to absorb a large amount of wound fluid. Moreover, the compress is comfortable and soft. It does not fray and maintains its shape well. The compress is sterile and offers initial protection against dirt, moisture, and bacteria.

The gauze compress can be applied directly to the clean wound after cleaning to absorb wound fluid (if present) and protect the wound:

• Clean and disinfect the wound with a disinfectant. You can use a gauze compress to apply this disinfectant.
• Only remove the gauze compress from its packaging at the last moment (see instructions on the packaging) to ensure it remains sterile. Hold the compress between your thumb and forefinger or use tweezers.
• Place the gauze compress on the wound.
• Secure the compress with an adhesive plaster or a (self-adhesive) fixation bandage.

• For removal: gently loosen the compress. If the compress sticks to the wound or skin, try to soak it off with lukewarm water.
• Regularly check the wound and bandage for leakage or drying out (adhesion of gauze and wound). Change the bandage at least daily.
• For grazes and minor burns, you can also use a gauze compress in combination with a HeltiQ Ointment Gauze. This reduces and soothes the pain and decreases the chance of scarring.

• Store the gauze compress in a dry and dark place in its original, unopened packaging. The compress will then remain sterile for 5 years. The expiry date is stated on the packaging.
