Great product. Two tablets a day are sufficient for me. I feel fitter and quite comfortable with it. The tablet is a bit large, but that’s to be expected with so many ingredients. The vitamin D could be higher, especially for a 50+ supplement. In autumn and winter, I will therefore be supplementing that additionally.
For some time now, I have been experiencing tingling, weak legs, and a general feeling of malaise. Blood tests have now revealed that I have a staggering 1259 units of B6 in my body, while 110 is the maximum. B1 is also too high. The cause: the excessively high dose of B in my vitamin pills, which I diligently took. Be cautious with these pills!
Customer serviceHello Emma, 110 is not the maximum, but the upper limit of the average value (25-110 nmol/l). If someone takes extra B-6, the value will increase. With an intake of 50 mg per day, a value of 600 is quite normal. With 100 mg extra, it would be around 1200.
Neuropathy usually only occurs at values around 3000. In the literature, neuropathy (reversible) is only cited with an intake of 200 mg for at least 2 years.
However, there are sometimes even extremely high B-6 levels without anyone supplementing extra.
Therefore, it is not necessary to discourage people from taking B-6. The FemPlex 50+ contains a relatively low amount of B-6: 24 mg per 3 tablets. This is 1/8 of the safe upper limit (200 mg per day) set by the Dutch Health Council in 1989. The Scientific Committee on Human Nutrition (EU) still referred to a safe upper limit of 500 mg per day in 2003. Thus, the dose of 24 mg remains well below this. If accumulation of B6 and reversible neuropathy occur, it is not so much related to the dose but rather to the genetic predisposition of the patient.
The FemPlex does not contain too much vitamin B1. The Vitamin Information Bureau states: "There are few to no adverse effects known from a high intake of vitamin B1. Therefore, no safe upper limit has been established." The FemPlex provides 17 mg of B1 per 3 tablets. This is a very low dosage for orthomolecular supplements. Many people have been using dosages between 50 and 100 mg per day for years without side effects.

Hello, I am 52 years old and currently taking Mega Vites. My question is, would it be better to switch to a multi vitamin for women over 50? Can I continue taking magnesium citrate, vitamin D3/K2, and fish oil alongside these, considering the quantities aren't excessive? I take one Mega Vites per day. I find taking three per day of the multi for women quite a lot—is it necessary if I'm also taking other supplements? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Taking three tablets per day is a recommendation; you can also try taking just one and see how it affects you, though the dosage will be significantly lower. You might start with three tablets per day for two weeks and then reduce to a maintenance dosage of one tablet per day, adjusting as you see fit.
We generally don't get enough magnesium, D3, and Omega 3, so it's advisable to continue taking these, even if you're taking three tablets.
