I raised the question with the importer last week but have yet to receive a response. I can already indicate that I find it highly unlikely that this Magnesium taurate actually provides 125 mg of elemental magnesium per capsule, as this would mean that the total weight of the capsule would be at least 1600 mg, which typically does not fit in a capsule (even capsules that can hold a maximum of 700 mg of powder are already quite large).

On the importer’s website, it states that the capsule contains 405 mg of taurine, but then it doesn’t add up at all, as the magnesium taurate compound consists of approximately 9% magnesium and 91% taurine. If the capsules truly contained 405 mg of taurine, then the amount of magnesium would only be 40 mg.

Another possibility is that the capsules indeed contain 405 mg of pure taurine, alongside 125 mg of magnesium taurate, with 9% magnesium, resulting in only 11.25 mg of elemental magnesium. The total weight of the capsule would then be 405 + 125 = 530 mg, which is indeed a fairly standard weight for regular-sized capsules.

As soon as I have a definitive answer, I will adjust the above and inform you accordingly.
