• Folate contributes to normal amino acid synthesis
• Folate and Vitamin B12 contribute to the normal function of the immune system
• Vitamin B12 contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system
• Folate and Vitamin B12 contribute to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue
• Folate contributes to maternal tissue during pregnancy
• Vitamin B12 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism
• Folate and Vitamin B12 contribute to normal homocysteine metabolism
• Folate contributes to normal blood formation
• Folate and Vitamin B12 contribute to normal psychological function
• Vitamin B12 contributes to normal red blood cell formation
• Folate and Vitamin B12 play a role in the cell division process
• Folic acid supplementation increases maternal folate status. A low maternal folate status is a risk factor in the development of neural tube defects in the developing foetus.
