Party Like Royalty: How to Stay Healthy During and After King's Day

21 april 2023

King's Day is almost here, and whether you're at a festival, strolling through the street market, or partying in the streets, there's no shortage of orange pastries and alcoholic beverages. How can you take care of your body so you can enjoy King's Day to the fullest? We're happy to guide you with these tips.

1. Stay Hydrated

Amidst all the fun, it's easy to forget to drink enough. And of course, we mean hydrating drinks 😉. Make sure you've drunk enough water before you leave the house and bring a bottle of water with you. Another tip is to eat foods high in water content, like cucumbers. You'll get some vitamins in as well, win-win!

2. Know What You Eat

As tempting as it is to go for greasy snacks, by eating the right foods, you can provide your body with the necessary nutrients to feel like royalty all day. Opt for foods rich in proteins and carbohydrates like eggs, cheese, nuts, and whole-grain bread. We understand that most people prefer to buy food on King's Day rather than bring it. At least ensure you have a nutritious breakfast, take your supplements, and get a healthy late-night snack ready for when you return home. Tip: Not sure which supplements you need? Take the vitamin test here or scroll down for our post-King's Day recommendations.

3. Protect Your Skin

Sun or no sun, chances are you'll be outside on King's Day. Apply a good SPF before you leave the house and bring a small tube with you. This way, you can reapply regularly and stay optimally protected. If a lot of sun is expected, it's advisable to bring sunglasses and a cap or hat to protect your eyes and scalp as well.

4. Take Good Care of Yourself and Recover

After a long day, you might want to head straight to bed. Whether you have to work the next day or have another day off, ensure you shower, cleanse and care for your face, and drink some water before bed. This increases the chances of waking up refreshed the next day.

5. The 'Day After'

Even if you don't wake up as refreshed as you'd like, it's crucial to stick to your normal, healthy routine as much as possible. Go outside for some fresh air, take your dietary supplements, have a good breakfast, and drink plenty of water. Before you know it, you'll be back to your old self!

3 Bonus Tips for When You're Not Feeling Your Best the Next Day

1. Feeling a bit down? Saffron and ashwagandha can provide support. Saffron helps reduce anxiety and negative feelings, and ashwagandha is beneficial for maintaining good mental balance.

2. Feeling physically or mentally tired? Magnesium and Ginkgo Biloba come to the rescue. Magnesium supports energy levels and is good for the muscles, while Ginkgo Biloba helps reduce mental fatigue.

3. Want to detox your body? Consider milk thistle and vitamin C. Milk thistle supports the liver's cleansing function, and vitamin C is an antioxidant. Antioxidants protect against free radicals, harmful substances released from, for example, alcohol.
