Green Tea-PS by Vitals is more bioavailable due to the patented Phytosome® technology from the Italian producer Indena. The term Phytosome (or phytosome) comes from the Greek word phuton (plant) and soma (body). During the patented production process, the natural clumping of specific, poorly absorbable phytonutrients (such as polyphenols from green tea) is limited, and these are mixed with phospholipids from sunflower lecithin. The active substances are not encapsulated (as in liposomes), but a homogeneous mixture of small, well-absorbable particles is formed. Polyphenols (such as catechins in green tea) have a natural affinity for phospholipids. The result is the formation of phytosomes, where the polyphenols attach to the phospholipids. In this way, they are absorbed particularly well. Cell membranes (such as those of cells in the small intestine) also consist of a phospholipid bilayer, which allows these phytosomes to pass through the intestinal wall excellently and the active ingredients to be well absorbed into the circulation. Studies have shown that the absorption of catechins from green tea is more than doubled by this Phytosome technology.
