Elementary Magnesium is based on ‘concentrated mineral drops’ (CMD), a special seawater concentrate from the Great Salt Lake with the full spectrum of minerals and trace elements (devoid of almost all sodium). This product is manufactured through a traditional and natural concentration process using the sun. The seawater concentrate naturally contains a high level of magnesium.

The minerals and trace elements in Elementary Magnesium are present in dissolved and ionic form, as electrolytes. This means they are not bound to other elements but exist as separate electrically charged particles. For example, magnesium chloride (MgCL2) dissociates into the ions Mg2+ (positively charged magnesium) and CL- (negatively charged chloride) when dissolved in water. In this way, minerals also exist in our body, dissolved in intra- and extracellular fluids such as blood plasma. Minerals in ionic form are therefore well absorbed.

About magnesium and its health effects
The body contains approximately 21 to 28 grams of magnesium. Less than 1% circulates in the blood, about 20% is found in muscles, 20% in other soft tissues and the liver, and about 60% is built into bones and teeth. Magnesium is therefore beneficial for muscles and important for maintaining strong bones and teeth. Furthermore, it is involved in more than 300 enzymatic processes. For instance, magnesium is an important co-factor for enzymes involved in protein synthesis (the process by which proteins are made based on DNA). It also contributes to a good electrolyte balance as it is a co-factor for many enzymes involved in maintaining an electrical potential across the cell membrane. (Cells – especially nerve and muscle cells – use the electrical charge of electrolytes to conduct electrical impulses to and from other cells, such as nerve impulses or muscle contractions.) In this way, magnesium is involved in nerve conduction and muscle contraction, and is thus important for muscle function, including the heart muscle. Additionally, inadequate magnesium intake can lead to fatigue. In such cases, magnesium can help to regain fitness. It helps release energy from fats, carbohydrates, and proteins, thus supporting energy levels. It is also important for brain and nerve functions, which determine aspects such as concentration, memory, and mood. Moreover, it contributes to normal cell division and the creation of cells and tissues.
