The probiotics can easily be added to bottle feeds and expressed breast milk or applied around the nipple when breastfeeding.

Symflora® Baby is not only suitable for babies but also for (expectant) mothers. These probiotics can be used from week 32 of pregnancy and during breastfeeding. The nutrition and supplements you consume during pregnancy and breastfeeding are, after all, passed on to your baby.

The first bacterial strains that colonise a baby's intestines are mainly bifidobacteria. With this knowledge in mind, Vitakruid has chosen a formula with no less than four bifidobacterium strains for Symflora® Baby.

High survival rate after 24 hours
An important quality of probiotics is the survival rate of the bacterial strains after passing through our digestive system. During digestion, probiotics are exposed to various substances – such as stomach acid and bile – that aid digestion. Some probiotics do not survive the acidity of your stomach, resulting in fewer live microorganisms actually reaching your intestines.

Probiotic activity more important than CFU/g
A study by Winclove probiotics in collaboration with Maastricht University shows that the (cfu/g)* in Symflora® remains relatively stable after going through our digestive system. In other words, the number of probiotics you ingest has a high survival rate. They mostly pass through the digestive system undamaged, and therefore have a higher metabolic activity. Metabolic activity, in short, refers to the activity level that bacterial strains achieve within our digestive system without being damaged.

For selecting a good probiotic, passing the survival and metabolic activity test are relevant benchmarks. It is often said that the number of colony-forming units (cfu/g)* is decisive. The more (cfu/g)*, the better the product. However, this is a misconception. What is the point of a large quantity of (cfu/g)* if the bacteria all perish in our stomach acid?

*CFU/g The abbreviation (cfu/g) comes from the English abbreviation (cfu/g), which means colony-forming units per gram. In Dutch, we have made it the term; colony-forming units per gram. The germ count or the colony-forming units per gram represent the number of probiotic colonies present in a gram of the product. One gram of Symflora® Baby contains 109 (cfu/g).

With ProbioAct® technology
Bacteria are vulnerable, which is why Vitakruid has opted for the ProbioAct® technology. This involves choosing nutrients that contribute to the survival, metabolic activity, and stability of the probiotics. The technology guarantees that the bacterial strains are shelf-stable at room temperature and that they survive the digestive juices in the gastrointestinal tract.

Sachet protects against moisture, light, and air
For the packaging choice of Symflora® Baby, sachets were chosen. This packaging form has several advantages over other methods. A product in a sachet remains optimally protected against moisture, light, and air.

Moreover, the probiotics in this product exist only in an inactive state to ensure their shelf life. When the bacteria come into contact with water, they become active again.

Ingredients
Rice starch, maltodextrin, bacterial strains.

Dissolve the contents of one sachet in approximately 100ml of lukewarm water. Let it stand for about 10 to 15 minutes. Stir well before consumption. 1-3 sachets per day. Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
