I find iodine drops very convenient because you can easily mix them into oatmeal or yoghurt for children, especially if you eat little or only homemade bread.
Iodine in the form of nascent iodine is the type your body absorbs best. The quality of the iodine is high because it is a so-called bio-elemental nanocolloid form. This means that nascent iodine is already detached from sodium iodide, the most commonly used form in supplements. As a result, your intestines can absorb this form directly, without the iodine having to go through a detachment process.

Is this the same as the "White iodine solution 15%"? (Lugol's iodine 15%)
On 23 february 2024 by Customer serviceThe Lugol's Iodine is not the same as Vitakruid's Nascent iodine. This product contains distilled water, iodine, and potassium iodide. The Nascent Iodine drops contain purified water, glycerol (stabiliser), and Nascent Iodine (sodium iodide), so not potassium iodide. However, both are very well-absorbed forms of iodine.
Is it safe to take this while pregnant?

How do I know which dosage I need? What are the risks of too high a dosage?

The dosage depends on the reason you wish to use iodine. If a genuine deficiency has been diagnosed, you may take between 400 - 500 mcg per day (5 to 6 drops).
Excessive iodine intake can cause hyperthyroidism, as well as goitre, hypothyroidism, and Hashimoto's disease (autoimmune thyroiditis). Therefore, our advice is to determine the dosage in consultation with your doctor/therapist if you wish to take more than 1 to 2 drops per day.
