L-Dopa is the direct precursor of dopamine, the neurotransmitter released, among other things, when eating meat, fish, eggs, dairy products, avocado, nuts, seeds, and legumes. Furthermore, engaging in certain activities, such as sex or sports, can lead to increased dopamine activity.

Nonetheless, dopamine is one of the most vulnerable neurotransmitters; stress and lack of sleep are often culprits of an imbalanced state. Additionally, alcohol, nicotine, caffeine, sugar, and various types of drugs cause a short spike in the neurotransmitter. Downside; in the days following the use of stimulants, dopamine activity drops, leading to insufficient levels. In various situations, supplementation with Mucuna pruriens can thus be of added value.

The Ayurvedic legume has various applications
You might be familiar with ashwagandha or turmeric, two well-known Ayurvedic herbs that we already have in our assortment. However, Mucuna pruriens is a lesser-known product of traditional Indian medicine. A shame, because the purple pods have countless applications; introduced centuries ago by Indian sages, and in recent decades supported by science.

High-quality extract of at least 20% L-Dopa
The velvet bean contains between 3.1 and 6.7% L-Dopa and is therefore even the richest known source of levodopa. Yet, you would have to eat a lot of the fruit to experience any effect from the L-Dopa. That's why our Mucuna pruriens contains an extract in which the active substances of the velvet bean are present in high quantities.

Nonetheless, not all Mucuna pruriens extracts are of high quality. A quick glance through the velvet bean offerings on the Dutch market reveals that numerous products with a 5%, 10%, or 15% L-Dopa extract are available. The percentage indicates how much of the extract actually contains levodopa. We have chosen the highest quality extract available for our Mucuna pruriens, with no less than 20%!

High dosage of 500 mg per capsule
Besides the quality of the extract, the dosage is naturally important as well. A higher dosage simply provides more active substances and therefore more effect. Most velvet bean supplements contain between 250 and 400 mg of extract per capsule. Research shows that these dosages are too low for a sufficient effect. Therefore, our Mucuna pruriens contains no less than 500 mg of extract per capsule, and we advise taking up to two capsules a day; a well-founded dosage!
