Nonetheless, this is a form we classify as acidic, which means supplementation in high doses can result in stomach and intestinal discomfort. For a high vitamin C requirement, Ester C 1000 is a better option. Ester C is calcium ascorbate bound to threonate; non-acidic and therefore extremely gentle on the stomach and intestines! 

Ester-C® is a patented form
Patented means that other developers cannot simply create a calcium ascorbate bound to threonate. The binding to threonate adds value to this compound, as it is a so-called vitamin C metabolite. Our body naturally converts vitamin C into metabolites, but in this process, a large portion of the resistance vitamin is lost. By binding the calcium ascorbate to a metabolite, our body absorbs the vitamin C directly, without having to go through wasteful processes. Threonate also has the property of mobilising vitamin C from body stores, giving Ester-C a dual advantage over other ascorbates!  

Citrus bioflavonoids for better absorption of vitamin C
Bioflavonoids are plant nutrients also known by the name vitamin P. Citrus bioflavonoids are found, among other places, in the soft white part under the peel of citrus fruits. During cooking, vitamin P unfortunately disappears from our diet by 70 to as much as 90 percent. Supplementation is therefore far from an unnecessary luxury. 

Research also shows that vitamin P ensures 35 percent better absorption of vitamin C. Citrus bioflavonoids also ensure a slower absorption of ascorbic acid and reduced excretion via urine. Better absorption and higher bioavailability were the pillars for adding vitamin P to the Ester-C supplement! 

Rosehip extract
Rosehip is the fruit of our well-known love flower: the rose. Rosehip already contains vitamin C on its own, for this extract it amounts to as much as 45 percent.
